Google Business Profile

Using Google Posts, offers, and Q&A to fill low season

Posts will not fix a bad profile, but on a good one they are free inventory on the highest-intent surface you own β€” and almost nobody in tourism uses them properly.

Who this is for: Operators with seasonal gaps, last-minute availability, or repeat pre-sale questions.

Which post type to use

There are three that matter for activity businesses, and they behave differently.

  • Update: general news, new departures, weather notices. Rolls off after about a week.
  • Offer: has a start and end date and a redeem button β€” the best fit for shoulder-season discounts.
  • Event: use for fixed-date departures, festivals, and seasonal experiences.

Write posts for a traveller mid-decision

The reader is already looking at your profile. They do not need your brand story. They need a reason to act today.

  • Lead with the concrete thing: date, price, spots left.
  • One clear call to action pointing at your direct booking page.
  • Use a real photo from that specific departure, not stock.

Own the Q&A section before someone else does

Anyone can answer questions on your profile, including competitors and confused past guests. Seed it yourself: post the ten questions you actually get by email and answer them from the business account.

  • What time should I arrive and where exactly is the meeting point?
  • What happens if it rains?
  • Is it suitable for kids, or for people with limited mobility?
  • What is included β€” gear, food, transport, tips?

Quick checklist

  • One post per week during booking season
  • Offers used for shoulder-season gaps with real end dates
  • Events created for fixed-date departures
  • Ten seeded Q&A entries answered from the business account
  • Every post links to a direct booking page

Frequently asked questions

Do Google Posts help ranking?

Not directly, but they increase engagement and give travellers a reason to click through, which correlates with better local performance.

How long do Google Posts last?

Standard updates typically show for about seven days. Offers and events run to the end date you set.
