Learn how to quickly set up a bookable tour page using Google Sites and Google Workspace. This step-by-step guide helps tour operators get their business online with a custom domain and booking widgets.

How to Set Up Your Tour Website on Google Sites (Step by Step)

You can have a bookable tour page live in an afternoon. Here’s the full setup, including a Google Workspace account so your site and email run on your own business domain instead of a Gmail address.

Step 1: Sign up for Google Workspace through this link.

This is a referral link. Signing up through it is how you get the discount below.

Step 2: Pick your plan and enter a promo code.
Each code takes 10% off the first year of either the Business Starter or Business Standard plan. Use one code per account.

Business Standard:
47JPYDJU4KHRCJT
MATGLDC7JDMJFAM

Business Starter:
ACRU6P4HEMYC4WT
XCCEHRKC4JJ76GN

Starter covers what most small tour operators need. Standard is worth a look if you want more storage and bigger meetings.

Step 3: Set up your business email and domain.
Follow the prompts to connect your domain and create your admin account. Use an address like you@yourtourcompany.com. It looks better to customers than a Gmail address, and your site can use the same domain.

Step 4: Open Google Sites.
Go to sites.google.com, signed in with your new Workspace account, and click Blank site.

Step 5: Build your pages.
Name the site, then add the basics: a home page, one page per tour, an About page and a Contact page. Write your descriptions and add your photos with the drag-and-drop editor. Keep each tour page focused on one tour.

Step 6: Get your widget code.
Log into Bókun or FareHarbor and go to the widget configuration area. Copy the embed code for the tour or calendar you want to sell.

Step 7: Embed the widget.
Open the tour page, click the Insert tab on the right, then Embed. Choose the Embed code tab, paste your snippet, click Next, then Insert. Drag the edges of the box until the calendar displays fully with no scrollbars.

Step 8: Preview on your phone.
Most of your customers will book from a phone. Use the preview option and check that the widget loads and the Book Now flow works. Remember that checkout may open in a new tab. That’s normal for embedded widgets on Google Sites.

Step 9: Connect your custom domain.
In the site settings, open Custom domains and follow the steps to point your domain at the site. This is where having Workspace set up first saves you time.

Step 10: Publish.
Hit Publish, choose your web address, and share the link.

Your site is now live and able to take bookings. That’s the first piece. The next piece is making sure Google actually shows your tours to travelers searching in Maps and Search, which is what the course at thingstodomarketing.com/course walks you through.
